How to Protect your Deaf Child Marriage

A marriage between two Deaf individuals is not about evading discrimination in the marriage market, it's about choices.

A Yoruba man tied the knot with a Yoruba woman, most times, it's because of alike culture for understanding.

Marriage between two Deaf individuals is about cultural choice just as with their able counterparts.

But when a dispute is opened for families to intervene, to develop a robust and effective discussion towards settlement, there's a thin line of difference between Deaf couples and non-Deaf couples.

A setting where everyone could speak and understand the language, promises effective communication towards a resolution but in the case of Deaf couples, how effective can it be, how long can the families endure the patience of communicating through a third party or by gesturing?

This ineffective involvement of parties to help Deaf couples settle their crisis has rendered a lot of marriages to crumble.

There was this case where the mother angrily began to spite her Deaf daughter's face with some renowned n'gbati-n'gbati (Yoruba Language) expecting her daughter to grasp the correction. The facial expression on the daughter's face already explained a wasted effort.

...you need to learn their language!

The Deaf, most especially the girls, will be doing better in marriage as morality is concerned if and if they are being mentored on an equal basis with their able counterparts while growing up, to do this...

... you need to learn their language!
