REPRODUCTIVE HEALTH AND THE MOST VULNERABLE

Insouciant attitude of Government towards the Health Sector influenced the lackadaisical attitude of health workers towards maternal wellbeing which is the progeny of the reproductive health detraction resulting into abysmal issues.

The best medium to curb the menace attached to maternal wellbeing is simply by making reproductive health information accessible.

The most vulnerable are the Deaf Women as reproductive health information aren’t accessible to them due to their nature of disability.  It was commanded in Genesis 1:28 and Abu Dawood, 1805 that we should be fruitful and multiply by giving birth, this commandment is without specification meaning, both the able and disabled have equal right to child bearing.

so therefore, equality should be maintained at our health institutions on maternal wellbeing, information and communication are utmost essential for maternal wellbeing.

The question is, are there provisions for the Deaf Women towards having access to reproductive health information and communication at our Nigerian Health Institutions?

The lives of these most vulnerable women are always at risk due to lack of accessibility to reproductive health information.

To curb this menace, it’s simply by stationing sign language interpreters at maternity sections at every health institution and provision of health tracts towards addressing the communication barrier between the Deaf Women and the health workers.

There are NGOs like IPAS who made moves towards curbing the menace by temporarily employing sign language interpreters who are stationed at specific health institutions and organizing programs, as Government’s supports they longed for suffered negligence and due to insufficient funding, they had to terminate the appointments.

Funding the Health Sector is very necessary because, the sector is all about life which gives hope.

#FundNaijaHealth towards curbing the menace bedeviling our Deaf Women.
