THE DEAF ARE HEADSTRONG PURPOSEFULLY

DEAF ARE HEADSTRONG PURPOSEFULLY

Most of our hearing folks never cease from laying emphasis on; Deaf are headstrong, Deaf are too temerity etc while they are the culprits.

The truth is, what you are experiencing from the Deaf is not really stubbornness; it’s a press for Human Rights.

After making the Deaf suffers isolation, you shouldn’t expect them dance to your tune.

Stop trying to remote control the Deaf instead, seek their opinions and share views with them, we have equal right to expression. Your command tone is a chivvy substance towards the Deaf, you have to avoid it.

We listen with our eyes, which is a tool to interpret expression, your frowned face while interacting with the Deaf might lead to misunderstanding or capriciousness which usually lead the Deaf to be headstrong.

Imagine a situation where you are interacting with the Deaf and at the same time murmuring and laughing with your hearing counterparts which interpreted to mocking and that justify the Deaf to get mad at you. If you aren’t mocking, why murmuring which will be hard for him/her to decipher!

Why should you tell your hearing colleague who doesn’t have Sign Language skill to help you communicate with your Deaf colleague, why not you too interact with the Deaf directly by gesturing? You are simply driving the Deaf into isolation and behavioural disorder which can make him/her tag you a slyboot.

Be cheerful, talk gently and smile while interacting with the Deaf. Isolate not the Deaf, make them enraptured.

Deaf culture is somehow esoteric but by learning Sign Language to break communication barrier and intermingling, you will understand that the people you’ve hated with passion are loving people.

Don’t be an anathema to the Deaf, maintain approachability. By this, we shall surely enjoy peaceful and joyful coexistence.
