HEALTH OF OUR DEAF SCHOOL CHILDREN AT RISK

OUR DEAF CHILDREN IN AN INDIGENT LEARNING ENVIRONMENT

“Health is Wealth”, a generalised term but our Deaf school children aren’t being encouraged.

Our Nigerian Schools for The Deaf hostels, places which are just a bit different from pig rooms are to be quarantined.

Those who are entrusted with the Deaf well being are the ones contributing to the afflictions being suffered. Our Deaf children suffer neglect in term of avoiding health hazard.

The society hardly give the Deaf proper attention while interacting, they hardly listen because the Deaf are tagged “senseless”, issues partaining to them are seen as footling due to ingnorance of Deaf Culture/way of communication which is pernicious.

The Deaf are denied the equal rights to expression which it’s a visa to isolation and which usually cause them to be stealthy. How can those stealthy Deaf children in those indigent hostels thoroughly explain symptoms of the health hazard being suffered and who will care to thoroughly listen?

Imagine, lilliputian children with hearing loss residing in an indigent environment, how can they express the symptoms of their ailment if affected? Their environment should be of great concern to avoid health hazard.

Most of our Nigerian Schools for The Deaf Children hostels are in abysmal state.

An example is the Abuja School for the Deaf, Kuje, which Young African Leaders Initiative, Abuja Network in collaboration with Deaf Resource Centre, Abuja visited on the 17th July, 2017 to give it a titivated look. Imagine, in a capital territory, so absurd.



Our Deaf children are special children; they are to be treated specially. Their learning environment should be of great concern as they adapt to the inclusive society.

Health study should be taught specifically towards personal hygiene.

A clarion calls on the government, parents of the Deaf children and concerned citizens to in unison shipshape the Deaf children learning environment to inviolate them.

 I was staring at a Pastor, staring at a chorister while they were ministering and they were like, why's he staring at me. I was too focused on a very beautiful lady while conversing and she thought this guy want to brew up something.
